Pre-Order Form

What it solves & why businesses use it

By using a pre-order form, businesses can start building a customer base early, capturing the interest of people who are excited about the product before it hits the market.

Pre-order forms help businesses:

  • Generate early excitement and interest for an upcoming product launch.

  • Build a customer base before the official product release, ensuring demand from day one.

  • Collect emails and contacts to nurture leads and drive engagement before the product is available.

When & how to use it

This strategy works especially well for businesses that are preparing to launch a new product, limited edition item, or service to gauge interest and secure sales before it officially goes live. Key use cases include:

  • When launching a new product, use a sitewide pre-order form to collect email addresses from interested customers before the product becomes available for general sale.

  • Include a pre-order option on product pages, allowing users to reserve their purchase with a simple sign-up form, capturing their email or phone number for updates.

  • Use a pre-order option during checkout, especially for products that are still in production or are expected to sell out quickly.

How it looks

The pre-order comes with the following key elements:

  • Email or phone number field: A field to enter contact details to stay informed about the launch or to secure the pre-order.

  • Product images & details: Include attractive visuals of the upcoming product, along with key features or benefits, to create excitement and clarify what customers are pre-ordering.

  • Incentive: Offer an incentive like discounts or exclusive gifts for customers who pre-order.

  • Countdown timer: If applicable, include a countdown timer to create urgency.

How to set it up

Let’s set up a pre-order form in Claspo that not only looks great but also helps you collect real leads and future buyers.

Step 1: Pick a template

Choose from ready-made pre-order forms — bold, sleek, or anything in between. For this example, we’ll go with a template designed for pre-ordering a new gadget.

Step 2: Customize it

Our drag-and-drop editor lets you fine-tune every detail:

  • Enhance visuals — choose a solid background, an image, or a transparent effect.

  • Brand it — adjust colors, fonts, and buttons to match your brand.

  • Refine the layout — add or remove fields and write a compelling product description.

  • Optimize your CTA — customize button shape, shadows, and hover effects.

  • Polish UX — tweak the close button, input fields.

This template includes a field for collecting phone numbers. That’s because important updates — like a product launch — are more likely to be seen quickly via smartphone notifications than through email. To edit this component, click on it, go to the General tab, and select a Default country code from the drop-down list.

In addition to the main window, there are Success and Error screens for subscription status. They include default messages, but you can tweak the text and design as needed.

Before publishing, preview the form on mobile to ensure it looks good on all screens. Hide oversized elements to keep the layout clean and conversion-friendly.

Step 3: Set up display conditions

Let’s configure the widget so it appears for visitors who spend 20 seconds on the product page. This helps you capture genuinely interested leads and makes your marketing budget work harder. Good news: the default timing is already set to 20 seconds.

Now scroll to On pages > Add condition > URL > Equals > Specify value and enter the exact URL of the product page. If you're offering several models (say, different colors of the same gadget) and want the widget to appear on all those pages, choose Contains one of instead of Equals, and enter a shared keyword from the URLs.

Step 4: Integrate with your marketing tools

Once your form is ready, it’s time to send the collected data where it’ll actually do some work. Claspo plays nicely with the marketing tools you already use — whether it’s an ESP, CRM, or CDP — so everything flows smoothly into your system for follow-ups and automated messages.

What is a pre-order form template?

A pre-order form template is used to collect orders for items before they are released, ensuring customers are guaranteed the product before it runs out of stock. To generate hype for your business and easily collect online pre-orders, simply customize one of our free pre-order form templates and embed it on your website.

What information should be included in a pre-order form?

A good pre-order form should collect just enough information to confirm the customer’s interest and allow you to follow up later. The exact fields may vary depending on your product or offer, but here are the most common elements to include:

  • Full name – to personalize communication.
  • Email address – required for confirmation and updates.
  • Product or item name – especially if you offer multiple options.
  • Quantity – helps you plan stock or delivery.
  • Preferred variant (size, color, etc.) – if applicable.
  • Phone number – optional, useful for time-sensitive follow-ups.
  • Additional notes – for special requests or comments.
  • Consent checkbox – for GDPR or marketing permission.

Tip: Keep your pre-order form short and easy to complete. The fewer fields you ask for, the higher your conversion rate is likely to be, especially on mobile.

Types of online pre-order forms you can create with Claspo’s templates

To help you create a pre-order form that suits your product and audience, Claspo offers several layout and use-case–specific templates.

Layout-based pre-order form templates

Depending on the way you want to display your form, you may choose between:

  • Popup Pre-order form templates: Great for grabbing attention. This widget appears as a modal window, making it ideal for special offers or when you want users to act quickly. Use it to boost urgency for a limited-time pre-sale form or when launching a new pre-order product.
  • Floating Box templates: Stays visible while users scroll your site — perfect for ongoing campaigns. This pre-order format is subtle but effective and works well for general interest collection or product waitlists.
  • Embedded Pre-order forms: Perfect for full-page integration or product pages. An embedded pre-order form format blends seamlessly into your content and is ideal for detailed offerings or high-conversion pages.

Purpose-based order forms

Depending on what you want to achieve, you can choose different pre-order form use cases:

  • Interest Collection: A form to gather names and emails — perfect if you want to gauge early demand and build an email list at the same time.
  • Product Reservation: A pre-order form to guarantee purchase with fields like quantity, color, or size. Product pre-order forms are useful when you're planning limited runs or early access.
  • Launch Notifications: A short online pre-order form with just an email field and a call-to-action to notify users when the product is live or on sale.

How to manage pre-orders made with Claspo templates

Claspo’s online pre-order forms are built to be an integral part of your sales funnel. You can build entire campaigns based on form submissions.

1. Integrate your pre-order form with external tools

Claspo offers such integration options:

  • Email marketing services like Mailchimp, Brevo, GetResponse, Klaviyo, and others.
  • CMS and eCommerce platforms like Shopify, WordPress, and WooCommerce.
  • Marketing automation via Zapier.
  • Google Sheets for quick access and manual workflows.
  • Webhooks for custom flows and backend systems.

Once integrated, every new submission from your pre purchase order form is instantly passed to the platform of your choice, so you can trigger emails, update lists, or track leads automatically.

2. Segment your audience from the start

Claspo doesn’t manage audience segments internally, but your order form template can feed clean, structured data into your external system, where segmentation happens.

For example, when connecting Claspo with Mailchimp, you can assign tags or place users into different lists based on form input. In Klaviyo, segmentation happens via audience lists or dynamic properties mapped from the form. Using Zapier or webhooks, you can define advanced rules for assigning people to different pre-order lists or automations.

3. Automate follow-ups

Once your pre-order form is integrated with an external service, you can build a fully automated flow that handles communication for you.

You need to design the logic once, and the system will run it for every new contact. That means every user who fills out your pre-order form enters a workflow where emails or text messages are sent out based on timing, tags, or field values, without you lifting a finger.

4. Track performance and optimize

Claspo gives you built-in stats to understand how your pre-order form performs:

  • How many people saw the form;
  • How many submitted it;
  • What the conversion rate is.

But more importantly, it helps you optimize. You can run split tests (A/B tests) on your pre-order form templates without hurting conversions. For example, you can safely test:

  • Two different designs;
  • Different CTAs or headlines;
  • Alternate display rules.

This lets you find what works best for your audience and gradually improve results, especially when your goal is to grow your pre-order list or boost email signups.
